The Birds and the Bees

I think it's pretty clear that I'm not going to win NaNoWriMo. Instead I shall probably be thrown on a heap of disgarded manequins and left to grow mouldy. Not such a bad end, I suppose, compared to some.

My new target, regardless of any being-thrown-on-a-heapness that may occur at the end of the month, is to make 30,000 words by December, and to finish this novel by Christmas. As I typed this, Ray Charles sung the following:

Can’t you see
What you’re doing to me?
The honey bee
Makes to spy at me.
The birds above
Sing a song of love.
Though I have cried constantly,
That’s not the thing to do.

Which seems like a nice set of lyrics for my novel.

Now starting Chapter 17. Will post them as quickly as I can be bothered to proof read them...

PS. I do not actually know Ray Charles. He was singing on my CD player. Also, I believe that he is dead.

Update

Another couple of chapters almost done. We'll soon meet the shady S. Redact, see what Zzrh and Zzg are up to, and find out about the 'Skeleton God in Oil Paint' itself. Excited?

What, not even a little?!

I've also added a funny graph to the sidebar. I'm still figuring out quite how it works, but generally we want lots of green and not much red. You can also see what my word count is. 15% of the way there! Whoo!

Here We Go...

If you want to read the story novel without these interruptions, click on Chapters under the label header on the sidebar.

I've written three chapters for 3000 words so far. Actually the second chapter is the 'short introductory chapter' that I mentioned earlier. I added another very short chapter before it, just so it has an exciting start.

Halloween

'Twas the night before NaNoWriMo began, and all was quiet as a space cat... (In space, no-one can hear you meow...)

Yes, it's Halloween, and I for one am very frightened. I should have spent time today working on my plot outline, but as usual I am leaving everything until the last minute. As it is, I'm not happy with what I have. Working on motivations and causes and effects is, well, hard. And I seem to have just a bunch of stuff happening and people making decisions, without any of it being inter-related in any kind of satisfactory way.

I hope that the few people who might read this realise that my novel is going to be really rubbish...

With any luck, once I start writing tomorrow, I should have a short, introductory chapter completed and posted by the end of the day.

Pre-Prologue

This is where my NaNoWriMo novel, The Skeleton God in Oil Paint, will be appearing, chapter by chapter, throughout the month of November.

Expect some image posts before then. Possibly also posts to the tune of "Oh crap there's no way I can do this why have I chosen to humiliate myself in public like this?!"
